Roughly square, New Brunswick is bordered on the north by Quebec, on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the south by the Bay of Fundy, and on the west by the US state of Maine. The southeast corner of the province is connected to Nova Scotia at the isthmus of Chignecto. The flag of New Brunswick, based on the coat of arms, was adopted in 1965. The conventional heraldic representations of a lion and a ship represent colonial ties with Europe, and the importance of shipping at the time the coat of arms was assigned. Paleo-Indians are believed to have been the first humans on the land of New Brunswick, settling there roughly 10,000 years ago. Because their descendants did not leave a written record, there is a lack of knowledge of the history of the area before the arrival of European explorers. At the time of European contact, inhabitants were the Mi'kmaq of New Brunswick's eastern coast, the Maliseet of the Wolastoq valley, and the Passamaquoddy of the St. Croix River valley. These people all lived a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Many tribal placenames originate from their Eastern Algonquian languages, such as Aroostook, Bouctouche, Memramcook, Petitcodiac, Quispamsis, Richibucto and Shediac. Opportunity Zones deliver fast-acting and long-lasting solutions by allowing current investments to qualify and structuring rewards to serve local communities for the long-term.
There are English only people everywhere, but in some cities, you find less than others. Having recently moved to NB from Ontario, I can say from my experience, that it really depends on a few things… your motivation for moving to NB, your personality, and your expectations. Not having done alot of research , I went on the childhood memories I had of visiting relatives in the summers. Now, it really depends on which part of the province you choose to live, also. Almost half of New Brunswick’s population lives within the metropolitan areas of these three cities and, for most people, the best opportunities for work can be found here. The province is currently home to a small migrant population.
You’ll wonder how you ever lived without it.

MONTREAL — The new plan to reduce overcrowding in Quebec emergency rooms is paying off, the province's health minister said Wednesday, but a major nurses union said that while the measures are laudable, the situation remains critical. If it weren't for a series of recent changes to the health network — including new clinics run by nurse practitioners and the expansion of an urgent-care medical line — emergency rooms across the province would be in much worse shape, Christian Dubé told reporters. "We've certainly benefited from having a distribution system that is denser than the rest of the province and it allows us to to service it with less people and to be more efficient," Horgan said. Alexander Rankin and James Gilmour came to the area in 1812 to establish a lumber and shipbuilding enterprise (Gilmour, Rankin & Co.) at Douglastown . Rankin House was constructed in 1837 as the home of Alexander Rankin and is now a museum containing a collection of objects relating to early life in New Brunswick.
The city offers a full range of summer and winter sports programs and facilities, including recreation centres, swimming pools, a golf course, and rinks for skating, curling and ice hockey. The city, however, is best known as a haven for outdoor sport enthusiasts. The river offers whitewater opportunities for canoe and kayak, and angling for Atlantic salmon and brook trout. About one-half of the sport catch of Atlantic salmon in North America are landed on the Miramichi River and its tributaries.
